A sightseeing boat called Hableany (Mermaid) was traveling on the river Danube in Budapest, when another ship collided with her, under the Margaret Bridge, near the Parliament building. The tragic accident happened on 29 May 2019, approximately at 21:05. The much smaller vessel sank within seven seconds, nineteen people were confirmed dead, and only seven tourists survive the crash. Eight other passengers and one crew member are still missing. Most of the victims of the deadly boat crash were tourists from South Korea. The 64-year-old Ukrainian captain of the cruise ship, identified earlier as Yuriy C., was formally arrested for 30 days, suspected of endangering water transport leading to a deadly mass accident. According to the officials, the captain was deleting data from his mobile phone after the crash.
